Little Horsted
This tiny village is located just 2 miles south of Uckfield and 1 mile North of Isfield, for such a small community it holds a fair share of history. The Iron ore industry was once one of the main incomes of the area where John Levett of Little Horsted formed his families Iron ore business in the late 1700’s. The village even has the honour of being recorded in the famous doomsday book!
With just one church and a hand full of houses Little Horsted doesn’t hold much, although there’s Little Horsted Place which houses a beautiful Victorian Manor house. This building is still very much in use and can be hired for conferences and weddings throughout the year.
The Lavender Line just nudges Little Horsted by calling at the terminus of the line which is situated by the river Uck; although there is no station at Little Horsted there are ideas for the future to build a small halt at the end of the line to allow passengers to enjoy the beautiful countryside walks.
