August 22  2010  We regret that our "Bangers and Mash" evening on 11th September is now sold out. Further evenings are being planned for the future and dates of these will be posted on this website nearer the time.

July 13  2010  There has been some rearrangement of items in our locomotives section. Currently only those locos at the line are being shown. We are working on a new page to show locos which have in the past been at Isfleld and this is due to be ready quite soon.

This Saturday and Sunday we have our model weekend. As well as the model stalls and displays we will be running trains on both days. Normal entry prices apply. Come along and have a family fun day out.

July 01  2010  We are pleased to be able to announce two further events to our 2010 calendar. On September 11th we are holding a pie & mash / sausage & mash with peas or beans followed by spotted dick or apple pie and custard evening on the train. For tickets and further details please contact Marion Taylor by telephone on 01903 761455 (up to 8pm in the evenings) or at the railway on  01825 750 515 on opening days. Our second additional event is a Thumper Special Day which will be held on September 19th. No special booking is required for this. 

 

June 26  2010  Our next featured event will be our model weekend on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th July. Come along and see the displays and take a train ride.

June 24  2010  Now we have RSH 0-4-0 ST "Birkenhead" in traffic, at Isfield we have been able to recommence our Saturday footplate training courses. Anyone interested in driving a real steam engine can find more information by clicking here.

June 01  2010  Birkenhead has now arrived at the railway. For running dates of the loco please see the latest traffic notice which is also posted on the members page.

 

May 28  2010  Steam loco ST 0-4-0 "Birkenhead" arrived at Isfield at last at 4pm last night, 27th May thanks to Antell Bros Hauliers. More will be posted about the running of this loco as soon as this is known.

 

May 25  2010 I would like to remind those members who have indicated that they wish to attend our visit to Beech Hurst Miniature Railway Thursday 3rd June to assemble at 6pm onwards at the clubhouse at Beech Hurst Haywards Heath the entrance is opposite Sightsavers on road that starts at the mini roundabout opposite The Dolphin Pub, the club have promised to run some interesting stock and a finger buffet will be provided.

Preparations are now well underway for our open evening Wednesday 9th June 6pm onwards at The Lavender Line where we expect to welcome guests from Beech Hurst Miniature Railway and from various medical establishments locally, we are proposing to have a barbecue that evening, this event was very enjoyable last year and we are hopeful of an even larger group this year. We need as many members as possible to volunteer as hosts and helpers on this occasion to show our guests what a nice outfit and organisation we run. Thanks Mike Laker.

 

May 21  2010 It is with regret we have to announce that the arrival of Birkenhead did not tale place as originally planned. There have been problems arranging the transport of the locomotive due to congestion change issues in London where it is currently located. Once these have been sorted the locomotive will be on its way to Isfield. We will post more information here as soon as we know ourselves. 

 

May 9  2010 We are pleased to be able to announce that a new steam locomotive will arrive at Isfield on Wednesday 12th May. The engine is 0-4-0 Birkenhead which is on hire to the railway for an initial period of one year. The loco is much needed as Kitson Austin1 in currently under heavy overhaul at Llangollan and will not be able to return to traffic for some time yet. More information about the new arrival will be posted as soon as we have further details

 

May 2  2010 We are pleased to announce yet another special event which will take place at the Railway over the late May Bank Holiday period on 29th, 30th and 31st May. The event has been organised by S.E.A.M.S (Sussex Engine and Associated Machinery Society) and will consist of an exhibition and display of members machines in the grounds of the railway. Of course train rides will be operating throughout the event so come along for a great family day out.

May 1   2010 A "Facebook" page has now been set up for the Lavender Line so you can join our on line community there.

 

We also have been able to add two more video links to our videos page. These were taken by a visitor on 2nd April.

 

April 30   2010 On mid-summers eve, on Monday the 21st June we will be running a Thumper Specials evening. Starting at 7:30pm, you will be able to take train rides all evening and watch the sun go down from the train at the end of the line. We will be serving food in the form or hot dogs or burgers with chips and the price for the evening is just £15. Proceeds from the event will go to our Thumper restoration fund. April 27   2010  We now have a new party leaflet and booking form for those wanting to arrange parties at the Lavender Line. Copies of the new leaflet can be obtained from the railway or you can download a copy from our download page - or by clicking here.

 

March 26   2010  We became aware of yet another little video about our railway and so have posted a link to it on our videos page - a very nicely produced little item it is too, Enjoy.

 

Also we regret that due to lack of a suitable locomotive, our footplate courses normally held on Saturday mornings are currently postponed until the summer,

February 15   2010  We would like to warn you that the running line will not be operational on either April 10th or April 11th 2010. This is to allow track repair work to be carried out. The site will however be open to visitors but there will be no trains running on those days.

 

February 5   2010  The February traffic notice has now been posted on our members page.

 

January 30   2010  Don't forget we will be open each day during the week from Monday February 15th to Friday February 19th for our half term specials. All tickets just £4 for the day.

 

January 16   2010  We fully expect to be open as normal tomorrow, Sunday 17th January as the snow has now gone. Unless the bad weather returns we will then open as per our posted calendar.

 

January 10   2010 With the continuing bad weather we find we are unable to operate a train service at the moment. We will however open our site to visitors and our buffet is open for our famous breakfasts this morning. We will post here details of when we are open again for train rides.

January 3   2010 Sadly our unique rail-bus has suffered a blown head gasket and so will not be in traffic for some time. Unfortunately head gaskets cannot simply be purchased for the rather rare engine and so one is having to be manufactured  especially for us and this will take some time to make and then to fit. We will post here when the rail-bus is running again.
