Peckett 0-4-0 ST Lady Angela visited Isfield in late 2007 and early 2008 whilst on hire from the South Devon Railway. Lady Angela was the prime locomotive for our 2007 Santa Specials where she proved very popular, especially for our younger visitors. She may visit Isfield again in 2008
LADY ANGELA was built in 1926 by Peckett & Sons Ltd as a Class R2 0-4-0 saddle tank works no 1690. From new it was delivered to Gypsum Mines Ltd of Kingston-on-Soar, Nottinghamshire on 1st July 1926. The locomotive spent its working life there through several changes of ownership until eventually replaced by diesel. Eventually No 1690 was purchased from British Gypsum Ltd for preservation by the Shackerstone Railway Society and was transported there on 22nd May 1971.Click here for more information on that historic move,
The following images of the locomotive have been provided by Lavender Line photographer Mark Tewkesbury and we hope to add to this page during the locomotive's stay at Isfield.
Lady Angela left the railway at the end of her hire agreement on 25th February 2008.
