Former Steam Engines

Lady Angela:

Lady Angela arrived at Isfield in late November 2007 and was hired in at very short notice to substitute Ivor the engine which was due to haul out steam Santa specials throughout December but due to technical failures Ivor the engine was unable to make it for those steamings.

After plenty of phone calls and arrangements a substitute loco was finally found which enabled the running of steam throughout the Santa specials, she proved herself to be a very reliable and economical engine which allowed her to stay an extra 2 months until February when she was taken back to the South Devon railway for a complete overhaul.

Not a lot is know of this little loco due to the short time she stayed at Isfield, although we do know she’s Built to a typical Peckket and sons design with 14 inch cylinders and a typical industrial colour scheme. She’s privately owned and had remained at the South Devon railway ever since she arrived there in the late 1960’s.
