Former Steam Engines

Ivor the engine:

Ivor the engine made it’s first appearance at the Lavender line in the summer of 2007 when the railway combined a welsh day with Ivor the engine to celebrate the arrival of the guest engine and all the enjoyment he’s given over the years. Much debate was taken over the hiring of Ivor due to the fee’s and insurance, but by the beginning of 2007 the decision was made to hire Ivor the engine for two weekends in June and see how popular the famous little engine could be over the weekends.

After the first visit from Ivor in 2007 a number of other visits occurred over the next few years and every time he proved to be more and more popular due to the fact that Ivor the engine was appearing at much larger railways such as the Kent and east Sussex and the mid hants railway.

The unique thing about Ivor is the fact it’s really an ordinary 0-4-0 industrial saddle tank but with mocked up side tanks and three whistles on his cab roof, this gave the peckett built loco a perfect look alike to the welsh cartoon character and gave children the opportunity to see Ivor the engine in the flesh.
