| 68012
Steam Locomotive Hunslet 0-6-0 ST
|
 |
68012 belongs
to the LLPS and has been at Isfield since before the current society
owned the site. The loco was last steamed in 2004 but is currently out of service
awaiting restoration of boiler due to a wasted inner firebox and
corroded water
jacket. Now subject to a long term project which is expected to cost in excess of £80,000.

| 205033
three car unit
DEMU |
 |
205033 had the
honour of leading "The Last Thump" rail tour on 15th December
2004. It was bought soon afterwards by the Lavender Line and is now in
service at Isfield. The unit although considered to be one of the best of
its class when withdrawn was somewhat neglected in its final months on the main line
and so is now the receiving some much needed attention and
repainting.

| "Ausin1"
0-6-0 Kitson Steam Locomotive |
 |
Currently
returned to the Llangollan railway for a major overhaul, Austin1 was the main
steam workhorse of the Lavender Line for several years. Its steamings
had been funded by personal donations. It is hoped after a period
of running in it may return to Isfield

| Planet
0-4-0 Diesel Mechanical Shunter |
 |
Purchased by
the LLPS in 2004 this powerful little air cooled diesel shunter sees
regular service in and about the railway and on occasions can be seen
coupled to a brake van for quiet public service days. Recently repainted in
bright blue the locomotive has been the subject of sponsorship.
|
| Sentinel
0-4-0 Steam Locomotive |
 |
Privately
owned, Sentinel 51 is in full working order and currently on trial at
Isfield to assess its suitability as a second steam locomotive for use
on wine and dine trains. This rare and unusual engine has a vertical
boiler and is chain driven but despite its small size is capable of
hauling very heavy trains. Before it can go into full service it
requires the fitting of a larger vacuum ejector.

| Andrew
Barclay Diesel Mechanical 0-4-0 number 15 |
 |
This little diesel
mechanical shunter built in 1941 is privately owned and had been at Isfield for many
years. It is currently being refurbished by its owner but requires a
replacement gearbox although all other work on the locomotive is nearing
completion. It has been a very useful locomotive at the line and will be
fitted with train brakes before it returns to traffic so it can be used
as a backup locomotive for use on passenger trains. Although always
referred to as a 'Vulcan', the locomotive is actually an Andrew Barclay.

| Vulcan
Diesel Mechanical 0-4-0 |
 |
This little diesel
mechanical shunter is privately owned and had been at Isfield for many
years. It is currently awaiting full refurbished by its owner. Although
quite tatty at the moment it has the potential to be a runner. Often
referred to as a Barklay the locomotive is in fact a Vulcan. This
picture was taken before it came to the Lavender Line. See the owners
webpage about this and the previous loco by clicking
here.

| "Hampshire"
DEMU 1123 |
 |
"Hampshire"
motor unit No 1123 now resides on the new isolated siding in the yard area
of the line. The unit has been cosmetically restored but there is still
a lot of work to do on the power unit before it can be returned to
traffic.
|
| "Hampshire"
DEMU 1211 |
 |
Class 205
driving trailer no 1121 belonging to Hastings Diesels arrived at Isfield
towards the end of October 2007. The fully restored unit is on loan to the Line
for the foreseeable future.
|
| "Ivor
the Engine" |
 |
This little locomotive was
hired in order to create interest for children and proved to be very
popular. So much so in fact that we had hoped to have Ivor available for
our 2007 Santa specials but a problem with the boiler prevented this. Ivor
is scheduled to return to Isfield for two weeks in 2008.
|
| "Lady
Angela" |
 |
With
the sudden unavailability of "Ivor" the Lavender Line officials
quickly sought another small locomotive for the 2007 Santa Specials and
was lucky to be able to hire at short notice the little 0-4-0 Peckett
"Lady Angela". The loco remained at the line until February 2008
and was very popular with crew and visitors alike. It is hoped we will
hire the locomotive again at some time in the future.
|
| "Teddy" |
|
 |
Although the name is unofficial,
This little Peckett has endeared herself to our loco crews and to our
visitors alike. She is highly economical to run and loved by the children.
We hope she will stay at Isfield for some time yet. Click
here to read more about this little engine.

| Austerity 0-6-0 "Rolvenden" |
 |
In March 2008 guest locomotive, Austerity 0-6-0 "Rolvenden"
arrived from the Kent and
East Sussex Railway. It is the same basic type of locomotive as our own
"Blackie" and very powerful. It is intended that the loco may be
used on some Clive Groome footplate courses although it will see action
on some public days at Isfield as well.
|
| Terrier
662 "Martello" |
 |
March 17th
saw the arrival of the Stroudley Terrier 662 "Martello" for a second visit to the line. This very
popular little locomotive is part of the Bressingham Collection and will
be used at Isfield almost exclusively on the Clive Groome footplate training courses. It
will therefore be seen running on many Saturdays.
